What we keep about you, why, and who sees it. Howling Press, Durham, North Carolina.
Current from October 6, 2026.
What we keep
When you write to us, call, or start a project on the site, we keep what you gave us: your name, how to reach you, and what you told us about the job. When you order online or accept a quote, we keep the order, the files you sent for it, the proofs, and where it was delivered. When you make an account, we keep the account. Payment details go to the payment processor and are not stored here.
Why
To quote the job, print it, deliver it and answer for it afterward, and to make the next job easier: your files, your paper and how you like things done are the reason a reorder takes a minute. We do not sell or rent any of it, and we do not use it to send you anything you did not ask for. We write when there is something to say about your job.
Who else sees it
The people who work on your job here. A carrier gets the delivery address. WooCommerce’s shipping and tax service, run by Automattic, gets the delivery address and what is in the order to work out shipping and sales tax. The payment processor gets what it needs to take the payment. Anyone else who helps make or finish your job gets only the artwork and the specifications, not your details. Google gets what is described under Cookies. Nobody else, unless the law requires it.
Your files
We keep your files for as long as you have an account or an open job, so you can reorder, and we treat them as confidential. The website keeps the files on an order until 45 days after the order is done, and after that we keep them at the press. A file you upload and do not use on an order or a request is deleted from the website after 3 days. We do not use them for anything but your jobs, and we do not show your work as an example of ours without asking you first. Ask, and we delete them.
Cookies
The site sets the cookies it needs to work: one to keep you signed in and one to keep a cart. It also uses Google Analytics to count visits and see how the site and the store are used: the pages you open, the kind of device, roughly where you are, and steps such as adding to a cart or placing an order. Google Analytics sets its own cookies for this (their names start with _ga) and keeps them up to two years.
We also use Google’s advertising tools, to see which of our ads lead to an order. Google may use what it learns on this site to show our ads to people who may be interested, and when you place an order it may receive your email address in a scrambled form that cannot be read back, to match the order to an ad you saw.
Google handles all of this under its own privacy policy. To leave it out, block those cookies in your browser, use Google’s opt-out add-on, or turn off personalized ads in your Google account.
Your say
Ask and we will tell you what we hold about you, correct it, or delete it, apart from what the law says we keep, such as invoices. Write to hello@howlingpress.com or call (919) 744-1801.
