Paper, by what it is for.

Inside, a gloss or an uncoated sheet, chosen by weight. Outside, a heavier cover chosen the same way, or the inside paper wrapping it.

  • Gloss

    A coated sheet with a shine, so photographs look their best. Catalogs, cookbooks, look books.

    148 GSM / 100 lb text, or a thinner 118 GSM / 80 lb text

  • Uncoated

    No coating, so it takes a pen and reads without glare. Workbooks, programs, journals.

  • The cover

    A heavier sheet, so the booklet holds its shape. Chosen like the inside: the surface, then the weight.

    • Gloss 350 GSM / 130 lb, 271 GSM / 100 lb or 217 GSM / 80 lb cover
    • Silk 271 GSM / 100 lb cover
    • Velvet 352 GSM / 130 lb cover
    • Uncoated 352 GSM / 130 lb cover
    • Coated one side 18 pt, 320 GSM

  • Self cover

    No separate cover: the outer pages are the inside paper. A lighter booklet, for programs and zines.

A cover that lasts.

The cover is what gets handled. Choose one of three: nothing over it, a clear coat, or a laminate.

  • None

    The paper and the ink, nothing over them.

  • Clear coat

    Cured with light, in gloss for shine, satin or matte for none, or soft touch for a velvet feel. On the outside of the cover, or inside as well.

  • Laminate

    A thin film sealed over the outside of the cover. The toughest finish, for books that get used.

    A PDF with every page in order, the cover first. We read the size and the page count as it arrives.

    Choose

    The binding, the papers, the finish and how many, with your own pages bound beside every choice.

  3. 03

    Check

    Your pages as spreads, trimmed, and plain words for anything the binding will not take.

  4. 04

    Order

    Add it to the cart, or send it for a quote. Every book waits for your approval of a proof before it prints.

Build the file at the finished size, with 0.25 in of bleed if the color runs to the edge, and keep type clear of the binding. The proof is digital, on your order page, unless you would rather have a printed one in the mail. More in the artwork guide ›
